BIOGRAPHY
 
 
Lonnie Duka, Photographer and Filmmaker, received a B.F.A. in film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He began his career in Boston making films for the Harvard Business School before moving to Hollywood to work as a film editor. Shortly thereafter he joined the Fluor Corporation as a filmmaker, and it was there he began to explore still photography. While at Fluor, Lonnie traveled the world extensively, shooting still and motion pictures, primarily of industrial facilities and cultural arts. During this time he won several local awards and honors for his still photography, including a one-man show of black and white industrial images at the Newport Harbor Art Museum (now the Orange County Museum of Art), inclusion in the International Museum of Photography George Eastman House, a Kodak Farfotokalender Preis Award for travel photography, and a Clio award for a sports calendar.

Lonnie went out on his own and established Lonnie Duka Photography in 1985. His primary focus was on still photography though he continued to produce film and video for special projects as needed by clients. While continuing to work as an industrial photographer, his commercial scope broadened to include substantial work shooting on location for corporate communications, advertising and editorial clients. His work has been utilized for annual reports, marketing collateral and editorial projects in a wide range of industries including, mining, energy, architecture, entertainment, telecommunications, healthcare, computer technology, fashion and lifestyle.

Lonnie has received numerous awards for his work including several Communication Arts and Graphis Photography Annuals, the Clio Award of Excellence, the Applied Arts Photography & Illustration Merit Award, the Belding Award, and the Art Directors Club Exhibition Merit Award. He has been showcased in Communication Arts, including a cover photo and feature article. He has also been featured in Photo District News, Fuji Profiles and Zoom Magazine, and was commissioned to create a public art installation by Sempra Energy for its corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

In 2009,Lonnie Duka Photography became Duka Media to better represent its full photography, video, film and creative capabilities.
